Adulting and Encouragement
Updated: 2 days ago
Encouragement is great! It’s good to get told you’re doing something right! Even if it is yourself haha! I recently stayed some time with family and during that week we got to borrow the car to do stuff with. We went to the gym, to the grocery store, and to grandma’s house to help her with some stuff too. It was a nice ride. So smooth and cool gadgets all inside. I like the tech.
After the week was over Grace and I filled up the tank with gas. We had some fuel points at Smith’s so we got a little discount. That night before bed, I sat and thought to myself “man you are doing good. Look at you putting gas in the car.” Immediately though another thought popped in my head, “You’re 38 years old, you should be doing this stuff. You’re a grown man.” I guess that’s true. I’m a grown man and should be a responsible citizen by now.
I think though, just because I’m supposed to do stuff doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be proud or encouraged when I actually do the things I’m supposed to do. It's still good to be lifted up and spurred on to do further “adulting” deeds.
I think this is how the church should be. We should be encouraging each other in our growth towards the savior who saved us. I know that it's just what we’re supposed to do, but life is difficult and life is hard. So it is good to be encouraged when trying to carry out these duties. Sometimes that may be the word of life that we need to push us past that point where we might have given in to sin, doubt, or apathy. We never know when another is right on the edge even though they have from outward appearances seem to have it all together. So my question for you today is who have you encouraged?
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13
