Reaping and Sowing At Adventure Van Expo

Recently I went to another festival to share the Gospel and foster community with digital nomads and vanlifers.  It's always a fantastic time. And God always reveals himself and something about the nature of his calling for me.  It's just so amazing how he relates the realities of my life with the scriptures I’m currently reading. And yet it again it's on the nature of how we witness as Christians.  At the last event he spoke to me about the necessity of the truth.  This time he showed me the fields that are ripe for harvest!

I’ve been going through the Gospel according to John and Jesus in between his conversation with the Samaritan woman and the people of Samaria, spoke with his disciples.  He said that the harvest is ripe for eternal life.  He also said that some will sow and not reap the reward while others will reap who did not sow.  So in plain language some will witness to people and not see them come to Jesus' allegiance and others will easily see people follow Jesus when they didn’t really invest a lot of time in the person.

This weekend I got to see a man who was heavily impacted by the witness of a Christian whose passion was unmatched. Spoiler alert! The guy I spoke with didn’t enter into a relationship with the risen Lord but I know he is closer today than he ever was before.  This man asked me why his friend was so passionate about Jesus.  (I was glad he was comfortable enough to ask me such a question!)  First, it was so cool to hear that God was moving in this man's life through another agent. Not only was God working, but it was having a transformative effect.  This encounter with his friend was so inspiring that he had to tell someone about his experience.  God is definitely moving! And second, it was a blessing to share in this experience with him as I got to share why Jesus is worthy of such passion. In one sense I reaped the harvest of the previous man’s witness and in another sense I got to sow seeds that may reap eternal life for this man!  God is truly magnificent! The work I got to take part in as an instrument of God, and also the scriptures being manifested in my daily life is just so cool to see!

But what did I tell him?  I want to leave you with this because I think it is so important.  This man and I are the same age and he wants something to be passionate about.  He wants something to bring life to him.  He wants that spark that would fuel all his actions.  He is looking for purpose.  I told him it's easy to be passionate about great things. We talked a lot about the beauty God has created in the world for us to see and recognize him in.  He said himself, he is not one to push people to do things but one thing he would do is push someone to go to Glacier National Park. He said it is because it is unparalleled in beauty, wonder, and awe.  I told him the same thing can be said about Jesus.  The only difference is an infinite one between the beauty, wonder, and awe that is found in them.  Because Jesus is the most beautiful, wonderful, and awe inspiring thing in the universe, passion, purpose, and fulfillment can be easily found in him. That is when we know him.  He creates in us such a desire and glory that cannot truly be expressed in words.  And it’s simple because of who he is.

So my question for you is do you know him? If you don't, I'd love to help you meet him. I've been reading through the Gospel according to John and would love for you to join me as I journey through this book specifically written to meet Jesus. You can check it out HERE on youtube or HERE on apple podcast. If you do know him, I pray that you would direct your friends to know him. Let them come see who Jesus is.  That’s really all we have to do.  Let them come and see!
